Abstract

The current research aimed to adapt a psycho-educational intervention and assess its content validity and feasibility for mothers of asthmatic children. This research is classified as applied research, as it aims to create and implement interventions that are founded on mentalization. Data collection began during the adaptation phase of the intervention with an initial review, which was followed by an assessment of content validity through quantitative analysis based on expert panel evaluations. Three mothers of asthmatic children participated in psycho-educational sessions during the pilot phase, which employed a single-subject design. Quantitative metrics monitored progress toward educational objectives. The content of the intervention sessions was assessed by a panel of experts during the initial phase using content validity assessment. This assessment was conducted utilizing the Content Validity Index (CVI). Afterward, the Goal-Based Outcome measurement tool (GBO) was employed to assess the feasibility of implementing the intervention. Mothers of asthmatic infants comprised the statistical population. In 2022, the research sample was compiled by selecting three mothers from the referrals of the Immunology, Asthma and Allergy Research Institute, Children's Medical Center, Tehran University of Medical Science, using a convenience sampling technique. According to the results, mentalization-based psycho-educational intervention has a desirable content validity. The pilot implementation also confirmed the hypothesis of the feasibility of this intervention. The results indicate that mentalization-based psycho-educational intervention has the potential to be beneficial in the field of child health psychology. Researchers recommend that this intervention be implemented on a larger scale in future research, utilizing a wider range of health indices in experimental designs. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
