Abstract

Papillon-Lefevre syndrome (PLS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder. The oral manifestations of the syndrome include rapidly progressive periodontal disease resulting in premature exfoliation of primary and permanent dentitions. Patients are often edentulous at an early age and require prosthodontic treatment. This report is the oral rehabilitation of an edentulous 21 year old woman with PLS. Treatment included maxillary and mandibular fixed prostheses supported by osseointegrated dental implants. At the 4-year follow up, the patient presented significant improvements in oral function and psychosocial activities and no prosthetic complications. © 2016. American College of Prosthodontists.
