Abstract

Keratoconus (KCN) is a type of corneal disease that does not involve inflammation but is characterized by the protrusion of a cone-shaped area and gradual thinning of the cornea.1–3 The thinnest location is usually found at the corneal apex, which is often displaced slightly inferiorly and nasally. Typically, progressive irregular astigmatism can be compensated for with spectacle lenses in the early stages of the disease but requires the fitting of some special types of contact lenses (CLs) as the disease progresses. 4 © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Mehrdad Mohammadpour and Masoud Khorrami-Nejad; individual chapters, the contributors.
