Abstract

Background: Urge incontinence is one of the disorders that affect many individuals. Treatment of patients is based on drug strategies; however, complete recovery has not been established. The use of botulinum toxin A is an important therapeutic approach that is used alongside other treatments today; however, few studies have been conducted. Methods: Sixty patients participated in this study. Patients are divided into three groups of 20 people. One group was treated with Botox (200 IU), the second with Botox (300 IU), and the third with antimuscarinic drugs. Patients were followed up for 6 months. At the end of 6 months of treatment, the results were evaluated by visiting the patient or calling them and asking the questions of the ICIQ-OAB questionnaire. Results: The percentage of changes in the number of urinations at night in the second group was higher compared to the other two groups; it was statistically significant (p = 0.018). Based on the results, it was shown that no complications were observed in the patients of the both groups. On the contrary, it was shown that in the second group, complications were observed in 4 patients (20%) (p = 0.03). Conclusion: In general, it can be said that treatment with Botox (200 IU) can have a better effect on improving the frequency of urination compared to the other two types of treatment. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
