Abstract

Introduction: Cleft lip and palate is one of the most common congenital anomalies that creates important challenges for affected children. Adequate awareness and education about this disease are very important to prevent complications for patients, their families, and society. Methods: This review study searched relevant databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus, using appropriate keywords from the databases' inception to January 2023. Following the removal of duplicates and the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria, relevant studies were selected for analysis. Results: This study retrieved 1904 articles. Ultimately, only 19 articles fulfilled the inclusion criteria for this study. These selected articles were categorized into six main classifications. Conclusion: Innovative education methods, such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), promise to increase learning effectiveness. Further research on the impact of education on managing patients with this condition is recommended due to the limited studies in this area. © 2023 Neonatal Nurses Association
