Abstract

2-alkynylbenzaldoxime, a valuable synthetic building block, attracted intense attention in synthetic chemistry for decades. Easily intramolecular cyclization owing to the presence of alkynyl group and subsequent [3 + 2] or [3 + 3] cycloaddition or nucleophilic addition process to construct N-heterocyclic compounds, in particular, indoles and isoquinoline derivatives are the advantages of this useful scaffold. The current review highlights the progress from 2008 until now in the application of 2-alkynylbenzaldoximes in organic synthesis. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd
