Abstract

Iranian mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) include 72 species across eight genera. The fauna of mosquitoes in Guilan Province comprises 34 species representing seven genera. In a study conducted between 2022 and 2023, we collected there 134 adult females, previously not found in Iran. Morphological analysis classified them as Aedes (Aedes) cinereus. Confirmation of their identification came from the barcode sequence of the COI gene. This species, along with its subgenus, marks a new addition to the Iranian mosquito fauna. © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
