Abstract

2-Ethoxyethanol (Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number 110-80-5) is a glycol alkyl ether used in a wide variety of applications as an industrial solvent in paints, inks, and dyes and as a commercial de-icing agent, hydraulic fluid component, and chemical intermediate. Its physicochemical structure makes it both hydrophilic and lipophilic, and it is readily absorbed by all routes of exposure. 2-Ethoxyethanol has toxic effects on the male reproductive system and hematopoietic system and is teratogenic. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.
