Abstract

Methomyl is a carbamate insecticide discovered in the late 1960s and licensed for use on various crops. It is a systemic anticholinesterase pesticide with a broad spectrum of activity. As a carbamate-based oxime insecticide, it was utilized to eliminate a wide range of insects. However, it is known to be highly harmful to animals and fish. It is a white, crystalline chemical with a sulfurous odor that's part of the carbamate family. The EU and the UK established Methomyl residual limits of 20μg/kg for apples and oranges. © 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
