Abstract

The medial collateral ligament is the most common knee ligament to be injured. Although mostly treated nonoperatively, a distal tear of the ligament is a clear indication for surgery. High failure rates with unreliable fixation methods have largely made knee surgeons reluctant to perform ligament repairs. Here, we propose a repair technique that uses the periosteal cambium layer to achieve surface contact healing, instead of point contact fixation, and combine mechanical fixation with regenerative enhancement. © 2024 The Authors
