Abstract

Molinate as a selective thiocarbamate herbicide is primarily employed in the cultivation of rice to manage grassy and broadleaf plants. Molinate is easily absorbed by dermal, inhalation, or ingestion exposure. It is then metabolized into more polar compounds and mostly excreted in the urine. The male reproductive and neurological systems are the targets of molinate poisoning. In a dose-dependent manner, molinate-treated male rats had testicular lesions and alterations in sperm morphology. Due to the possibility of peripheral neuropathy and reproductive toxicity, the US manufacturers voluntarily stopped using molinate in all applications in 2009. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.
