Abstract

The International Labor Organization (ILO) is a specialized agency within the United Nations that deals with labor issues about international labor standards. One of its major fields of activity is safety and health at work, and it aims to create worldwide awareness of the dimensions and consequences of work-related accidents. This occurs through international labor standards and ILO codes of practice, which are occupational safety and health (OSH) instruments. CIS (International Occupational Safety and Health Information Centre), the knowledge management arm of the ILO Program on Safety and Health at Work and the Environment, is responsible for the ILO's Encyclopedia of Occupational Health and Safety and the CISDOC database. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.
