Abstract

Retraction of: Scientific Reportshttps://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-024-73278-y, published online 02 October 2024 Editors have retracted this Article over concerns with methodology and data. Specifically, the values of serum melatonin reported in the paper appear unusual and the ELISA kits from the Bioassay Technology Laboratory (Shanghai Korain Biotech Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China) and Crystal Day Biotech Co. (Shanghai Crystal Day Biotech Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China) used to measure melatonin levels are understood not to have been appropriately validated for use in measurements of serum, saliva or other fluids. Additionally, the use of single timepoints to quantify melatonin levels is not appropriate for such studies. Editors no longer have confidence in the results reported by this study. All authors disagree with this retraction. © The Publisher 2025.
