Abstract

Background and Aims: The Pediatric Vestibular Symptom Questionnaire (PVSQ) identifies vestibular disorders in children. We developed the Persian version (PVSQ-P) and evaluated its psychometric properties to help children communicate symptoms and assist therapists in diagnosis. Materials and Methods: The study involved 168 typically developing children and 35 children with vertigo, imbalance, and dizziness aged 6 to 17. The PVSQ-P was adopted following the IQOLA protocol. We evaluated face, content, construct validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability. We obtained the questionnaire’s cutoff point with sensitivity and specificity. Discriminant validity was assessed by comparing scores between case/control groups and among vestibular etiologies. Results: The psychometric analyses confirmed that the PVSQ-P is reliable and valid, with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.869 and an Intraclass Correlation Coefficient of 0.843, indicating strong internal consistency. Confirmatory factor analysis validated its two-factor structure. The ROC curve identified a cutoff point of 0.95, with 94% sensitivity and 74% specificity. Mean scores significantly differed between normal children (0.63 ± 0.63) and those with vestibular symptoms (1.82 ± 0.53) (P < 0.001). However, the PVSQ-P could not distinguish peripheral and central vestibular etiologies. Conclusions: The PVSQ-P is useful for identifying children with vestibular disorders. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
