Abstract

The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) is a statute to govern US commercial facilities that generate or handle hazardous substances and wastes. The fundamental objectives are to protect human and environment safety from the hazardous wastes, and conserve sources and energy. The regulations cover waste recycling, waste minimization, and waste disposal management. This article outlines the basic provisions of the Act and describes some notable regulations and amendments implemented by the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA). © 2024 Elsevier Inc.
