Abstract

Mirex is an organochloride insecticide that was formerly utilized widely but was banned eventually due to its harmful environmental impacts. It was first used to suppress fire ants. However, it was later identified as a bio-accumulative toxin due to its chemical resilience and lipophilicity. It was recorded as a reasonably predicted human carcinogen by the US National Toxicology Program. Typically, everyone exposed to mirex should be monitored for any patterns of behavior, including convulsions. In 1976, the United States Environmental Protection Agency illegalized its usage. © 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
