Abstract

Rapid improvements in genetics have revolutionized various industries, including healthcare, and environmental science, enabling a workforce with genomic literacy. This chapter explores the crucial need for genetic literacy in the profession and describes numerous training initiatives aimed at closing this knowledge gap. Genomic literacy is essential for professionals working in fields such as medicine, and biotechnology, as advancements in genetics continue to drive innovation and discovery. By understanding the intricacies of genetic information, individuals can make more informed decisions and contribute to groundbreaking research. Through targeted training programs and educational resources, the workforce can stay ahead of the curve and harness the full potential of genetic technologies for the benefit of society. Incorporating genetic education into existing curriculum and providing ongoing learning to keep up with technological advances is vital.
