Abstract

Background and aim: Considering the importance of panoramic radiography and CBCT, the aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was Compared the Best method of panoramic radiography vs CBCT on the surgical technique of third molar removal. Method: MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, ISI, google scholar were used as electronic databases to perform a systematic literature between 2010 to march 2020. A commercially available software program (Endnote X9) was used for electronic title management. Searches were performed with keywords, “Cone-beam computed tomography OR CBCT”, “panoramic radiography”,” third molar”. The present systematic review was performed based on the main consideration of PRISMA Statement–Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis and by the PICO strategy. Result: A total of 31 potentially relevant titles and abstracts were found during the electronic and manual search, finally three studies (prospective) were included. Meta-analysis of p-value showed no significant difference between the two imaging methods in the prediction of nerve injury (P=0.76) Conclusion: CBCT imaging does not change the surgical approach for third molar removal when compared with panoramic radiography. © 2020, Advanced Scientific Research.
