Abstract

Canine impaction is a common clinical problem in which its treatment requires cooperation between the orthodontist and the oral and maxillofacial surgeon. To treat canine impaction, the canine crown is exposed by surgical exposure, and the orthodontic buttons are attached to align the tooth into the arch. This complex treatment requires high cost, long treatment duration, and patient’s cooperation. Early diagnosis can reduce the treatment duration, cost, and complexity and increases the chance of success. In this chapter, we will be explaining the etiology, diagnosis, and methods of surgical exposure of the impacted canine. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.
