Caregiver Satisfaction in Rural Areas in Isfahan District, Iran, After Implementation of the Family Physician Project

Abstract

Background: One of the main objectives of fifth program of economic, cultural and social development in Iran in health domain is the carrying out the family physician program and reference system. Nearly, 7 years after implementation of this big and widespread program in Iran, it is likely necessary to evaluate the efficiency of family physician program. For that, this research measured only the caregiver satisfaction in rural areas in Isfahan district. Methods: This descriptive-analytic study was carried on the population of rural areas in Isfahan district in those, family physician program has been implemented in 2011 Data was gathered by face to face interviewing with over 15-years old of age customers. Findings: The mean of caregiver satisfaction of family physician programs in rural area was 70.3 ± 10.5 percent. Nobody was completely unsatisfied from family physician services. But 15 people (3.8%) were unsatisfied of these services. 250 people (62.5%) were satisfied of family physician services and 135 (33.8%) were completely satisfied. Conclusion: Good satisfaction after implementing the family physician program in rural areas defines the successfulness of health sector reform in primary health care in order to improve some of the indeces of people satisfaction.
