Abstract

This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor. Post-publication, an investigation conducted on behalf of the journal by Elsevier's Research Integrity & Publishing Ethics team, prompted by a PubPeer post identified concerns around the authenticity of the following figure:Fig. 2. (a) Macro-morphological and SEM images of different scaffolds. There appeared to be two identical images for different materials. The explanation provided by the authors for this concern was satisfactory.However, concerns were also raised around the authenticity of the following figure:Fig. 6. a) Alizarin red stainingDip coated: A subimage of PLA-Bgh/Cs appeared to be identical to a subimage in PLA-Bgh/Cs-VEGF. The second subimage is scaled 97 % and rotated 20°.Despite several requests for the raw, uncropped images for this figure, the authors failed to provide a satisfactory explanation or the original images. As a result, the Editor has lost confidence in the integrity of the article and made the decision to retract it. The authors disagree with the retraction of the article and dispute the grounds for it. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
