Abstract

Aging is naturally associated with spontaneous deterioration of health. In addition to the disability and defect associated with diseases that increase with age, traffic collisions and occupational accidents are also among the contributing factors. Since maxillofacial deformities are located in the facial area, they often embarrass patients and subsequently affect their physical and mental health and even those close to them. Maxillofacial prosthetics is a branch of prosthodontics specializing in the repair of facial hard and soft tissue defects, with the goal of restoring the function and aesthetics of the area. The overall goal of maxillofacial prosthetic is to treat and restore facial defects in terms of function and aesthetics in order to improve self-esteem as well as the quality of life of individuals. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.
