Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence into game-based language learning modules has paved the way for simulating realities in classrooms of universities. However, the affordability of real-time simulation in English for medical Purposes learning has been under-researched. To conduct this interventional study with a non-cross-over design, 715 male and female students were recruited from universities of Asia and assigned randomly to experimental or control groups. To practice English for Medical Purposes skills, while in the experimental group conversations were made through mobile games with(out) real-time simulation, in the control group, the participants got into conversation through online tasks with(out) real-time simulation. Objective Structured Clinical Examinations were employed to assess the participants’ English for Medical Purposes learning. The results indicated significant differences in learning Medical English through real-time simulation in mobile games. Artificial Intelligence could also well-matched with mobile games and resulted in quite successful language learning. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
