Abstract

The chemical composition of essential oil from the bark of Pinus pinaster obtained by hydrodistillation was investigated by GC-MS. Seventeen compounds representing 95.8 % of the oil, were identified. Mono- and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, especially α-pinene (63.9 %), β-caryophyllene (14.3 %), and junipene (7.5 %) were the main components in the oil of P. pinaster bark. © 2012, Copyright Har Krishan Bhalla & Sons.
