Abstract

Background: Case Report: Conclusions: key words: To describe a rare case of a diabetic patient afficted with choroidal vitiligo and iris vitiligo with no skin symptoms and signs. We present the case of a 12-year-old girl diagnosed with choroid nevus, with a history of 7 years of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Fundus examination revealed bilateral extensive patchy choroidal depigmentation. There was no sign of choroidal nevus or ocular infammation, retinal and/or retinal pigment epithelial changes on OCT and fuorescein angiography. Iris vitiligo was found in her right eye. Another interesting point about this patient is the absence of associated cutaneous vitiligo observed in all previous reported cases. Throughout the 1-year follow-up, no documented progression of this choroidal vitiligo was seen. Choroidal vitiligo is a rare idiopathic benign process, possibly accompanied with iris vitiligo and no skin involvement. © The American Journal of Case Reports.
