Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the most serious health crises in the twenty-first century. Its tremendous complications influenced all aspects of human health and even the lifestyle. Due to COVID-19 confinements, most people had to remain indoors, and just for essential activities could go out. Studies demonstrated a significant reduction in physical activity levels compared to pre-pandemic. On the other hand, physical inactivity had increased during the last decades and become a global health issue. It seemed that COVID-19 restrictions have worsened the condition. Therefore, special attention should be paid to this issue, otherwise, its negative consequences will appear soon. Herein, we aimed to summarize the prevalence of physical inactivity during and after the pandemic restrictions. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.
