Abstract

Lower eyelid and midface should be regarded as a continuum. The optimal rejuvenation of lower eyelid usually cannot be achieved in isolation. Aging changes in this area mainly reflect herniated lid fat and midfacial descent leading to characteristic features of puffy lower lids, tear trough deformity, malar mound, and enhanced nasolabial crease. Accordingly, different aesthetic procedures have been introduced. It is important to note that no single approach is ideal for all patients as aging features vary from one patient to another. A systematic preoperative evaluation and a thorough knowledge on advantages/prerequisites of each procedure are of utmost importance to yield reproducible excellent results. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.
