Abstract

Facial aesthetic surgeries are performed by specialists from different disciplines. Certainly one of the most important specialists working in this field are oral and maxillofacial surgeons. In this chapter, along with the study of the history of the formation and evolution of this discipline, the modality of the relationship and interaction of this field with other fields will be investigated. The study of scientists influencing this specialty in the history of its development around the world is another important topic that we will discuss. The ultimate goal of this chapter is to achieve a realistic and fair understanding of the current and future perspectives of this field with a glance at the past. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.
