Abstract

The operating room is an economically critical part of the hospital. Proper implementation of management systems in health centres improves the quality of services. Given the revenue-generating nature of the operating room, this study aims to increase quality and accuracy, and reduce time wasted in the operating room and costs. The Delphi method was used to identify 19 essential criteria for operating room management systems (ORMSs), but the simultaneous implementation of all items was not possible due to limited fiscal and time resources; therefore, the processes in question were ranked using best–worst method (BWM) and combined compromise solution (CoCoSo) techniques to implement ORMS, then the process was reviewed based on the priorities. Finally, results show the ability to display the patient’s vital signs on a monitor, with an instantaneous changes alert (A13), the inclusion of an underlying disease reminder, medicine records (A4) and the patient’s clinical history report for transfer to the operating room (A15), with scores of 3.066, 3.001 and 2.972, respectively, as the most critical items. This research enhances management knowledge on implementing the ORMS project with multiple-criteria decision making (MCDM) techniques. In order to improve healthcare, pragmatic insights on the ORMS were provided. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
