Abstract

Metallic nanoparticles have vital biomedical, medical, and pharmaceutical applications including drug delivery, targeted cancer remedy, biomarker mapping, gene delivery, and molecular imaging. Consequently, their preparation is one of the critical issues in nanobiotechnology. In general, various top-down and bottom-up techniques were designed for synthesis of metallic nanoparticles, such as mechanical milling, sol–gel process, nanosphere lithography, chemical, photochemical, electrochemical, and sonochemical approaches, templating, thermal reduction, photolithography, laser ablation, biogenic synthesis, and electron beam lithography strategies. In this chapter, a few crucial strategies for the preparation of metallic nanoparticles have been discussed. © 2018 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA. All rights reserved.
