Abstract

Introduction: Today, infertility is one of the problems that many couples face. Various methods have been used to treat infertility. IUI is one of the most widely used methods in the treatment of infertility. This retrospective study was designed with the aim of identifying the factors affecting the pregnancy rate in IUI treatments from groups with different etiologies of infertility. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in 2018-2023 in Birjand city. A total of 478 cases were selected according to the inclusion criteria. The main variable in this study was the success of pregnancy by IUI method, which is determined by using a positive pregnancy test 2 weeks after IUI. The relationship between demographic factors, male and female factors and ultrasound with the success of IUI was evaluated in patients. Data analysis was done using SPSS statistical software (version 26) and t, chi-square and Fisher's exact tests. P<0.05 was considered significant. Results: Based on the results, no significant relationship was observed between demographic data, male and female factors and ultrasound factors with IUI success rate (p>0.05). However, there was a significant relationship between body mass and history of abortion with IUI success rate in patients (p=0.03). Conclusion: History of abortion and body mass can play an important role in the success of IUI in patients. © 2024, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. All rights reserved.
