Abstract

This opinion piece illustrates the close correspondence between the sixth sense, chance, and prospective thinking. Then, the placebo effect-when a fake treatment produces clinical effects similar to those of active treatment-is explained as a by-product of the sixth sense which is more than a chance. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.
