Abstract

The rapid advances in arts, crafts, theater, and entertainment industries resulted in the ubiquitous usage of different substances. Since the artists and users are frequently exposed to chemical substances, and rarely rigid rules exist for these industries, the toxicologists’ attempts are required to determine the hazardous effects of chemicals. This chapter comprehensively examined these materials in two groups. (1) arts and crafts materials (e.g., solvents, pigments, etc.) (2) theatrical and entertainment materials (e.g., makeup, fogs, smoke, etc.). These data may help the regulatory organizations, artists, and people to plan more precise principles regarding safety, precautions, education, decomposition, storage, etc. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.
