Abstract

Kidneys are bean-shaped organs located just below the ribcage and behind the belly. Kidney cancer is a fatal and common urological cancer mostly diagnosed in developed countries. The cancer includes renal cell carcinoma as the principal type, urothelial carcinoma, renal sarcoma, Wilms tumor, etc. These diseases have different pathologies, predisposing genes, clinical manifestations, and managements. Hereditary or acquired changes in tumor suppressor genes, oncogenes, and DNA damage repair genes can lead to kidney cancer development. Investigating specific genetic changes and biomarkers helps physicians and researchers predict prognosis and plan therapeutic strategies. In this chapter, we intend to investigate renal tumors in molecular and genetic basis. © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
