Abstract

Background and aim: investigate the correlations between the risk of sleep apnea and changes in upper airway was high important in growing patients with a severe, developing skeletal Class III malocclusion. Given the importance of this issue and the feeling of the need to conduct research in this area the aim of present systematic review and meta-analysis was Outcome measures (PROMs) of implant-suported, relative to tooth-supported fixed dental prostheses Method: MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, ISI, google scholar were used as electronic databases to perform a systematic literature between 2015 to April 2020. The mean difference with the 95% confidence interval (CI) was used. Forest plots in meta-analysis assessed using a commercially available software program (Comprehensive Meta‐Analysis Stata.16). Result: A total of 218 potentially relevant titles and abstracts were found during the electronic and manual search. Finally, a total of thirteen publications fulfilled the inclusion criteria required for this systematic review. There was a statistically significant decrease in the upper airway volume after mandibular setback surgery, statistically significant decrease were observed in volume of upper airway (MD, 3.54 cm3 95% CI 1.84cm3-5.24 cm3. P= 0.00). Conclusion: less decrease on the upper airway showed in bimaxillary orthognathic surgery vs mandibular setback surgery. It is also possible that these two surgeries significantly narrowed airway dimensions but did not cause an increase in apnea–hypopnea index. © 2020, Advanced Scientific Research. All rights reserved.
