Abstract

Three-dimensional (3D) printing, an additive manufacturing technique, is capable of producing a wide range of complex geometries and structures from a digital model. In this process, successive layers of materials are deposited one on top of the other. The development of bionanocomposites by the inclusion of nanofillers into a biopolymeric matrix using 3D printing promises to open up new possibilities across a wide spectrum of applications in the modern world. This chapter summarizes the different 3D apparatuses and materials used for the production of 3D printed bionanocomposites. The different areas of applications of 3D printed bionanocomposites including tissue engineering, pharmaceutical, biomedical devices, orthopedic/dental implants, food packaging, smart textiles, and water treatment are also discussed in this chapter. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.
