Abstract

The rapidly advancing field of microfluidics has significantly transformed diagnostics and pharmaceutical industries by enabling precise control and analysis of fluids at the microscale. This review examines recent advancements in microfluidic technologies specifically tailored for antibody separation and detection, highlighting their impact in immunodiagnostics and therapeutic antibody manufacturing. Key methodologies discussed include microfluidic ELISAs, biosensors, and immunoaffinity-based techniques, each demonstrating distinct strengths such as enhanced sensitivity, rapid processing, and reduced reagent usage. These platforms facilitate point-of-care (PoC) diagnostics, high-throughput drug screening, and personalized medicine, addressing limitations of conventional diagnostic methods related to sample volume, processing time, and laboratory infrastructure requirements. Additionally, the review addresses commercialization challenges, including scalability, standardization, and regulatory approval, and explores successful strategies employed by market-ready microfluidic devices. This analysis provides valuable insights for researchers and industry professionals aiming to leverage microfluidics to enhance diagnostic accuracy, therapeutic efficacy, and healthcare accessibility. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
