Abstract

Due to its disproportionate practice in advanced agriculture, the pesticide content in the water has increased. Choosing the right water treatment method to remove pesticides differs from the insecticide and the effectiveness of the treatment procedure. This assessment strictly reviews and provides comprehensive descriptions of various chemical, physical and biological methods to remove pesticides from water, such as advanced oxidation processes, adsorption, activated sludge, membrane bioreactors, and membrane technology. Single and mixed treatment methods are described in detail and strictly considered. The use of mixed disposal technology provides potential opportunities for the developing of innovative pesticide disposal technologies. It is very important to thoroughly analyze the composition of the water inlet and identify the best removal technique Design a water treatment plant to target the highest removal rate for various pesticides. In addition, the subsidiarity of water treatment is also debated, which is an essential method to obtain better sewage water quality at a lower price. Many affordable technologies, such as the adsorption of activated sludge and agricultural adsorbents, have shown great efficiency in handling high levels of different pesticides. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.
