Abstract

Malaria has been considered as a life-threatening parasitic infection and is a global major concern. Malaria is caused by Plasmodium sp. and is transmitted by Anopheles mosquito species. Malaria is mostly prevalent in vulnerable and poor countries and have a high morbidity rate. Many approaches have been evaluated and investigated for malaria prevention, treatment, and eradication; however, the majority of them were not efficient. Thus, exploration of new approaches and treatments seems to be necessary. Lately, nanomedicine, the nanotechnology which is used in medicine, has been evaluated in many studies, and there is evidence that nanomedicine can act efficiently for malaria treatment, diagnosis, and, to some extent, eradication. This study aims to investigate the application of nanomedicine in malaria disease. © 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
