Abstract

Biodegradable and redox-responsive polymers, particularly those with disulfide linkages, play an important role in biomedical applications like gene and drug delivery. Their stability and responsiveness to reducing environments enable targeted intracellular release. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is notable for its chemical versatility, biocompatibility, and tumor-targeting capabilities, making it a valuable nanocarrier. Modified HA systems, including nanoparticles and liposomes, enhance drug delivery and minimize side effects while addressing challenges like endotoxicity and drug resistance. This chapter explores the synthesis, properties, and applications of HA-based delivery systems, especially in cancer therapy and drug delivery advancements. © 2026 Narendra Pal Singh Chauhan.
