Abstract

Despite the available pharmacological options, migraine remains undertreated. These facts raise the need for developing diverse options for migraine treatment including complementary approaches. In this regard, several dietary supplements have been suggested to be useful in migraine management via various pathways. The involvement of neurogenic inflammation in migraine pathophysiology reinforced the hypothesis that dietary supplements with antiinflammatory properties could be effective in migraine improvement. Accordingly, the current chapter summarized advances in the understanding of the beneficial effects of omega-3 as a powerful antiinflammatory agent on migraine-related outcomes and other neurological disorders, as well. Moreover, other promising dietary supplements and possible mechanisms underlying each nutrient with a focus on migraine pathogenies will be discussed. © 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
