Abstract

Ever-increasing demands on improving efficiencies of wound healing procedures are a strong driving force for the development of replacement approaches. This review focuses on wound healing management from the point of formation to the point of healing procedures. The most important usual healing modality with key characteristic is explained and their limitations are discussed. Novel interesting approaches are presented with a concentration of the unique features and action mechanisms. Special attention is paid to gas plasma and nanotechnology impact on wound healing management from fundamental processes to beneficial outcomes. Challenges and opportunities for the future trend that combined common protocols and emerging technologies are discussed. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
