Abstract

Recent advancements in biosensor technology highlight the critical integration of diverse technologies to enhance performance across various applications. Aptamer biosensor devices, designed for sensitive analysis of bio-analytes, significantly improve diagnostic capabilities in healthcare. The unique three-dimensional (3D) structure of aptamers enables specific interactions with target molecules, while ongoing efforts in sequence engineering, rational mutation, and signal amplification aim to enhance sensitivity. Furthermore, advancements in materials and fabrication techniques are expanding the applicability of Aptamer-Based biosensors across detection platforms. The incorporation of nanomaterials has markedly increased sensitivity, selectivity, and versatility, allowing for the precise detection of a wide range of bio-analytes. Additionally, the fusion of biosensors with microfluidics, microneedles, artificial intelligence, and wireless communication technologies has propelled the development of advanced point-of-care devices. This chapter explores various fusion strategies for creating integrated Aptamer-Based biosensor platforms, focusing on their applications in the biomedical, food, and environmental sectors. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
