Abstract

Nanotechnology has rapidly become an attractive field of research, enabling the design of unique, precisely-shaped nanostructures in one, two, and three-dimensional geometries. Investment in this area has proven to be an effective strategy for creating innovative platforms with a wide range of biomedical applications. However, to further enhance the potential of these nanostructures, researchers have explored the integration of natural and synthetic architectures with nanomaterials to achieve specific interactions and functionalities. In this review, we focus on the integration of DNA-based structures with nanosheets, a specific type of nanomaterial, for biosensing applications. This integration has resulted in significant advances, including improved efficiency, selectivity, and specificity of biosensors. We will explore these advances and their potential implications for future biosensing technologies. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.
