Abstract

Data extraction serves as a critical foundation for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, playing an indispensable role in shaping our understanding of research findings. This chapter elucidates the significance of meticulous data extraction, as it not only streamlines the synthesis of evidence but also underpins the validity and reliability of the final outcomes. Through a rigorous extraction process, researchers are better positioned to draw accurate conclusions and make informed decisions based on the collective body of evidence. By ensuring the systematic capture of relevant data, this chapter emphasizes how effective data extraction can minimize biases and enhance the overall quality of the review. Ultimately, it is through this careful collection and organization of information that researchers contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their respective fields. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.
