Abstract

The history of medicine has seen a remarkable expansion of the specialty of urology, which is still expanding now thanks to modern technology for improved patient results (1). The medical specialty of urology is dedicated to treating surgical conditions and illnesses of the male and female urinary systems. Because the reproductive and urinary systems are tightly linked, problems with one frequently affect the other. Thus the field of genitourinary diseases encompasses a wide range of issues treated in urology. Urology treats surgical problems, including bladder or prostate cancer, kidney stones, congenital impairments, traumatic injuries, and stress incontinence, alongside medical (i.e., nonsurgical) infections of the urinary tract and benign prostatic hyperplasia. The discipline of urology encompasses the kidneys, adrenal glands, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, and male reproductive organs (testes, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate, and penis) (2). © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
