Abstract

By taking consideration of increasing in the number of aging populations, growing trend of central nervous system associated disorders and following obstacles of pharmacotherapy of Central Nervous System (CNS) infections require more portion of research. Improvement of CNS delivery applying new technologies could solve delivery problems of traditional pharmacotherapy and imaging of CNS disorders, for example, reduce drug trafficking and requires high dose of agents which result in toxicity and defect of medical process. Being familiar with physiology, anatomy and mechanism of action of CNS is the basis of improving pharmacodynamical and pharmacokinetical characteristics of drugs and delivery vehicles. Designing efficient delivery systems, possessing required characteristics considering diseases and treatment regimens, could increase treatment success rate. Nanotechnology had been shown as a potent science in designing suitable vehicle to CNS delivery of prognosis, imaging and therapeutical agents, that could authorize most of novel drug delivery systems characteristics, for example, improved drug trafficking and dose optimization, metabolization defense, control release, toxicity control and target oriented delivery. This chapter reviews the achievements of nanoscience used in improving CNS delivery, recently. © 2018 by Apple Academic Press, Inc.
