Abstract

The chemical composition of a hydrodistilled essential oil of Satureja boissieri Hausskn. ex Boiss. growing wild in Iran was examined by GC/MS. Thirty-eight constituents were identified. Carvacrol (70.1%), γ-terpinene (6.8%), p-cymene (6.3%) and β-caryophylene (4.0%) were found to be the major constituents of the oil. © 2002, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
