Abstract

Retraction of: Scientific Reportshttps://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-025-29769-7, published online 22 November 2025 The Editors have retracted this Article. After publication, concerns were raised that the study relies on the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale, which was retracted in 20231. When queried about this, the Authors indicated that the study uses a Persian translation of the scale, validated in the work where it was first reported2. However, the investigation of that study by the Editors revealed that it did not follow the best practices for translation and validation of such tools: the study does not mention multiple forward translation by independent translators, reconciliation and synthesis of those translations, or back translations. Additionally, it does not perform test-retest reliability metrics, construct validity testing, or convergent and discriminant validity testing. Given these concerns about the validity of the translated scale, and the issues with the original version of the MMAS, the Editors no longer have confidence in the results of this Article. Jamileh Mokhtari Nouri did not explicitly state if they agree or disagree with this retraction. Hossein Poorcheraghi did not respond to the correspondence from the Editors about the retraction. The Editors were not able to establish the current contact details for Seyed Tayeb Moradian and Seyed Qasem Mousavi. © The Publisher 2026.
