Abstract

It is now well-understood that gold nanoparticles have promising applications in various aspect of biomedical engineering including hyperthermia, drug delivery, imaging, and targeting. A proper control of their physicochemical properties can enhance therapeutic effects of nanoparticles while diminishing adverse side effects. In this chapter, we will examine the various biomedical applications of gold nanoparticles, particularly in imaging and photothermal therapy. © 2016 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
